KELLY HOUSE COMMUNITY CENTER

A gathering space where youth can learn, build relationships, and thrive in a positive, drug- and alcohol-free environment.

The Kelly House Community Center is a welcoming gathering place that provides a safe, supportive environment for youth and families in the Native Village of Tatitlek. Originally established to embody the vision of late Chief, Gary Kompkoff, in memory of his daughter, Kelly Kompkoff, the center opened in 2016 reaffirming its role as a hub for community connection and youth engagement.

The Kelly House offers a variety of youth-oriented activities and community events throughout the year, including holiday celebrations, arts and crafts, games, homework assistance, and internet access. As the program continues to grow, it will expand opportunities that support youth development, career exploration, and future planning.

Through engaging programs and dedicated staff, the Kelly House continues to strengthen the well-being of the Tatitlek community.

The Peksulineq Festival teaches youth traditional and cultural principles through activities including:

Beading
Skin Sewing
Drum Making
Kayak Building
Mask Making
Fish Processing
Basket Weaving
Wood Carving
Traditional Games
Dancing

In addition to the cultural activity classes held during the day, after school activities, community potluck dinners and evening entertainment are also arranged. Due to the fact that most evening event presenters donate their time, the evening events vary from year to year. Examples of after school and evening activities are:

Motivational speakers
Multi-cultural dance groups
Talent show
Basketball competitions
Community Dance
Beach science workshops

Provide an auction item: Event funds are raised through a live auction on the concluding evening of the event. Regional stakeholders and sponsors travel to Tatitlek village for the evening to participate in a community potluck, appreciation and award ceremony, and live auction.
